| I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to one mom and one dad. I also have one older sister who was mean and would tickle me until I wet myself, but fortunately she no longer does that. Sometime shortly after being born I became a kid and did lots of kid-like stuff such as destroying my army men with B.B. guns and firecrackers and breaking various things, including one bone. As I grew older, I became what science calls an adolescent, and due to both peer pressure and the laws of the Great State of Texas, I attended high school and, among my many accomplishments, crashed two cars. Next was college, during which I took many, many courses - some of which involved photography - deejayed at the student radio station (KTSW for life), majored in philosophy, crashed one more car and took low-paying jobs selling cameras and developing film. None of these jobs officially involved philosophizing. During the entire college experience I took lots and lots of photos and learned all about composition, aperture and shutter-speed, as well as how to best describe my photos during a critique in order to convince my classmates and instructors that my out of focus photos were art. After my “blurry phase,” I began to create photos that were in focus, and shortly thereafter I became internationally recognized as one of the world’s most outstanding photographers named Jake Holt. My work has been featured in Brides Magazine (national + local), Elle Magazine, Style Me Pretty, The Knot Magazine, Austin Monthly, D Magazine, Daily Candy, Tribeza, Rare, and Flowers Magazine, among others, and has also frequently been seen hanging on my mother’s living-room walls. As you can see from the fancy banners, I am an active, award winning member of the international Wedding Photojournalist Association and have been voted “Best Of Weddings” by The Knot readers for both 2010 and 2011. I’m currently an adult, I reside in Austin, Texas, and I photograph weddings throughout the country. I spend most of my free time vacuuming, drinking coffee, writing my tell-all autobiography and photographing my obese cats. |
